Karkala, Apr 17: A supporter of Congress leader Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty attempted suicide by pouring kerosene on himself during a protest in Hebri near here on April 17.
Supporters of Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty have been protesting against Congress senior leader Veerappa Moily alleging his role in denying ticket to Shetty.

Hundreds of supporters took to streets even on Tuesday raising slogans against Moily. On April 16, the Congress party had released its list of candidates where former MLA Gopal Bhandary managed to secure ticket from Karkala constituency.
Hours after the list was out, the supporters of Shetty vented out their anger for denying him the Karkala ticket for the upcoming assembly elections.
The protests have been held in different places of Karkala constituency since Sunday.
